As a member of the Americanism Committee for the Columbia County Exchange Club, I greatly enjoyed leading the coordination efforts of installing these Freedom Shrine plaques in Evans Elementary School. The Columbia County Exchange Club will held a ceremony to
officially dedicate a newly installed Freedom Shrine at Evans Elementary School on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. at 11:30 a.m., at the school, located at 618 Gibbs Rd., Evans, GA, 30809.
The Freedom Shrine is donated by the Columbia County Exchange Club, made possible from financial contributions from local businesses, and includes copies of historic documents and speeches on display in the school’s hallway. More than 20 documents including the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and others, are part of the display.
“We are so grateful for this partnership with the Exchange Club,” said Penny Jackson, Associate Superintendent of Columbia County School District. “The content of these historic documents is already something our students are learning about in the classroom, and seeing the documents on display in the hallways is a great reminder of their significance.”
We look forward to future ceremonies like this as we continue the long-standing Exchange Club tradition of sharing these historic documents in school hallways and promoting Americanism in our community.
